Thursday the 24th of November was the perfect day for the year 6 students to participate in the Aquatics program at West Lakes Aquatic Centre.

Students participated in the activities of kayaking, canoeing, sailing and surfing.

The aim of the day was to develop a range of knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes across the aquatic activities including the development of:

  • water confidence and water safety
  • survival in and on the water
  • environmental factors
  • rescue of others
  • aquatic activity skills and techniques
  • self-reliance and social skills

Students had raving reviews of the day (not so much of Mrs. Kim’s persistent need to get them to reapply sunscreen).

Here is what they had to say:

“I liked canoeing as our boat capsized which was awesome! Sailing was also fun.”, Said OJ.

“What I like about aquatics, was the kayaking because it was a test to my strength and was very fun.” said Rici.

“I loved everything about aquatics – I learnt about safety in the water. My favourite was canoeing.” said Dinara.
