Luna Roo
On the 27th of May, for National Simultaneous Storytime, the whole school came together to read Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller, written by Adam Wallace and Adrian Beck, and illustrated by Jake A. Minton. Breaking early for recess the whole school read the book at 11:30 a.m. timed in unison with the rest of Australia.
Luna Roo is about a young soccer captain kangaroo named Luna and her teammates, who must win the Animal World Cup. To do this, they need to win their game. Luna leads FC Outback as they face off against Bush United. Luna showed courage and ambition, just like our school values!
“At the start, we were all wondering what the book was going to be about. It was a very enjoyable experience for all of us. Oh yes, it was!”
“After we read the book, our class completed an activity about Growth Mindset and Fixed Mindset. We had a discussion about moments in our lives when we had a fixed mindset. There was also another activity mentioned in the video about designing a custom soccer jersey. If you win, they will print your design on a jersey, and you can give them to your friends.”
