This year Fulham Gardens Primary school students have been using the program ‘Open Parachute’ in their Wellbeing lessons with Mrs. Maieli. The Open Parachute program teaches students important key learning in resilience, self-regulation and how to overcome challenges within their own mental health. The Crows Foundation supports the work of Open parachute and believes this is a great learning program for Primary school students. Fulham Gardens had the honour of having Riley O’Brien come speak with the Upper Primary School students to speak of his own personal struggles with mental health and how his own self-regulation, resilience and coping strategies supports him as an athlete.
From Riley’s incredible work in this field, he received the 2024 Jim Stynes Community Award at this year’s Brownlow ceremony.
Our school were asked to feature on his presentation and share our experience with the Open parachute program and how beneficial we found having Riley come speak to the students was.
