The FGPS garden is bursting with spots of colour amongst the foliage this week. Currently our trees and vines are decorated with green and yellow fruit, waiting to ripen into juicy red tomatoes, sweet blushing oranges and mandarins. We also have the amazing versatile lemon and lime standing tall next to new flowerets of broccoli and budding eggplants. Our snow peas are getting ready to be popped out of their soft shells, whilst green sprouting parsley and basil, line the garden floor.
As part of the Stephanie Alexander kitchen and garden program, our students work behind the scenes to tend to the soil, clear the weeds and water the crops. They get to enjoy the full experience of sowing and growing the food, then harvesting, cooking and lastly eating it – how lucky are we!
