What is Ukulele Day?

Ukulele Day, often simply called Uke Day, is a musical event where primary school students from Marion and Fulham Gardens gather to make music together and to celebrate all things ukulele. Uke Day is like a micro-ukulele festival featuring many aspects of full-scale uke festivals. Our event, which we’ve given the cool title of UD24 LIVE! features singalongs, a student led jam-along, open mic show and a combined workshop with guest presenters. Holding everything together will be our house band The UD24 LIVE! Band. A new feature this year will be the inclusion of a guest artist who will present a performance especially designed for our Uke Day. Now in its 4th year, this year’s Uke Day will be the biggest and best yet!

Careful consideration has been given to the structure of the program and to the song selection … but at the end of the day our Ukulele Day is all about sharing the joy of playing the ukulele and having fun! For the first time 2024 Ukulele Day has been extended into the afternoon which makes it a ‘real’ ukulele day. The program is well loved by both Marion Primary School and Fulham Gardens Primary School students and look forward to playing again next year.

My favourite part was playing and singing Sweet Caroline” Bella.

The lady with the pink hair and colourful bow was singing the happy song and running all over the stage. She was so much fun!” Maia.
