This week is NAIDOC week and our school has spent the week learning about the theme, Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! Students throughout the school have been celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and learning about the relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians and how it needs to be based on justice, equity and the proper recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights.
Ms Julie organised a very special treat for the students – Aboriginal flag doughnuts. Student who purchased a doughnut were also supported the Tjindu Aboriginal Football Program. 50c from each doughnut purchased was donated to support Aboriginal students who play for the Tjindu team. This is a program that Ms Julie is very passionate about. Thank you to all the students who purchased a doughnut and supported the Tjindu Aboriginal Football Program.
