What a thrill it was for 9 of our Year 5 & 6 ukulele students to participate in The Great Adelaide Ukulele Picnic. This annual event was held in the Soldiers Memorial Gardens in Unley on Sunday 30th March. We were joined by 6 students from Mr. Whitehead’s classes at Marion Primary School to form a combined ukulele ensemble. We were one of the 24 ukulele groups from around South Australia that participated, which is the most important event on the SA ukulele calendar and the largest ukulele event of its kind in Australia.

We presented 3 songs on stage, Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree, Rockin’ Robin and The Cat Came Back which we have been learning during our weekly ukulele lessons.

Although there were a few nerves our group of young ukers performed very well, displaying both their delightful singing and ukulele skills, which everyone enjoyed. They agreed that they had a great time performing to such a large crowd.

A big thanks to Koda, Lucinda, Zoleina, Maia, Almira, Honor, Poppy, Faye and Emma for your fantastic performance. A big thanks also to their families and Mr. Moses who came along to support their kids and the event.
