Ms. Nicole and Ms. Emma’s year 2/3 Sea Turtles had a challenging week – A STEM CHALLENGE!
Students watched eagerly as paper cups, string and rubber bands were distributed amongst small groups in the classroom, waiting in anticipation for instructions.
BUILDING A TOWER OF CUPS! Hhmm, seemed a little too easy for this clever competitive class.
The Challenge – they couldn’t touch or handle the cups in any way and could only use string and a rubber band to construct a stable tower.
Students were heard stacking ideas, collapsing with enthusiasm and bouncing back with rubber bands. A lot of trial and error, teamwork, leadership and communication between peers, stacking up to be a successful lesson.
